After nearly 14 years, recently released Jamaat-e-Islami central executive committee member and former acting secretary general ATM Azharul Islam is set to visit his hometown in Rangpur.
Jamaat-e-Islami leader ATM Azharul Islam is visiting his hometown Rangpur after nearly 14 years, following his recent release from prison after being acquitted of all charges by the High Court. During his two-day visit, he will attend thanksgiving and Eid reunion programs, meet party leaders, visit his parents’ graves, and connect with locals. Party sources say this marks his first public appearance outside Dhaka. He is also being considered as Jamaat's potential candidate for Rangpur-2 in the upcoming national election.
