Bangladesh Islami Chhatra Shibir has expelled its central leader Md. Zisan Ahmed Pradhan after his arrest in a rape case filed at Daudkandi Police Station in Cumilla. The organization announced the decision on Saturday, June 13, 2026, citing preliminary evidence of a romantic relationship between Zisan and the complainant. The expulsion was confirmed in a Facebook statement by the group’s central publicity secretary, S M Forhad, who added that the organization would provide legal support to the victim if the allegations are proven.
The statement also raised concerns about the handling of the case, claiming that police did not allow Shibir representatives or Zisan’s family to meet him after his recovery and that the complainant and her father were being held separately under police custody. The organization said it could not verify the full circumstances due to limited access to the involved parties. Police officials confirmed Zisan’s arrest under a specific rape case and said legal proceedings are ongoing.
The case was filed by a widow who accused Zisan of rape and forced abortion under the pretext of marriage. Zisan previously served as assistant secretary for international affairs in Shibir’s central committee and as president of its Cumilla West unit.
