Islami Andolan Bangladesh has expressed strong concern and anger over remarks made by newly appointed Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh, Dinesh Trivedi. The party’s Assistant Secretary General and Dhaka South President, Maulana Ahmad Abdul Kaiyum, said Trivedi’s comments about India and Bangladesh becoming one nation and forming a global power together indicate a deep conspiracy against Bangladesh’s independence and sovereignty. He made the remarks on Saturday afternoon while addressing a meeting of the Jatrabari Thana branch of Islami Andolan Bangladesh.
Kaiyum stated that the envoy’s comments, made on Friday, have raised serious doubts about Bangladesh’s sovereignty. He urged the government to seek clarification from Trivedi and to take a firm stance on the issue. He further alleged that the statement was part of a broader conspiracy and called for the Indian envoy’s expulsion from Bangladesh.
The meeting was presided over by Jatrabari Thana Vice President Harunur Rashid and conducted by Secretary Dr. Nur Mohammad Munna, with several Dhaka South leaders attending as special guests.
