In the preliminary unofficial results of the 13th National Parliamentary Election, Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami candidate Md. Abdul Wareth has won the Gaibandha-5 (Saghata–Fulchhari) constituency. He contested with the 'scales' symbol and secured 87,913 votes. His nearest rival, BNP candidate Md. Faruk Alam Sarkar, who ran with the 'paddy sheaf' symbol, received 72,741 votes. Abdul Wareth achieved victory by a margin of 15,172 votes.
According to the report, the constituency had a total of 381,753 registered voters, including 189,796 men and 191,954 women. Approximately 57 percent of voters cast their ballots. The voting process was reported to have taken place peacefully throughout the day, with no major untoward incidents recorded, thanks to the vigilance of law enforcement agencies.
Officials noted that these results are preliminary and unofficial. The final results will be announced by the Bangladesh Election Commission after official verification.
