The Election Commission has made it easier for citizens to replace lost National Identity Cards (NID). Previously, filing a General Diary (GD) at a police station was mandatory to obtain a new card, causing delays and inconvenience. Now, the process has been simplified, and citizens can reissue their NID without visiting the police. ASM Humayun Kabir Banik, DG of the National Identity Registration Subdivision, confirmed the decision, emphasizing that it will significantly reduce hardship and save time and effort for citizens.

The Election Commission (EC) has taken a groundbreaking decision to simplify the process of reissuing a National Identity Card (NID) after it is lost. In a meeting yesterday, it was decided that from now on, citizens will no longer need to file a General Diary (GD) at the police station to obtain a replacement NID. The move is expected to significantly reduce the long-standing inconvenience faced by citizens. The information was confirmed to Bangla Tribune by ASM Humayun Kabir Banik, Director General of the National Identity Registration Subdivision.
