The Election Commission has made it easier for citizens to replace lost National Identity Cards (NID). Previously, filing a General Diary (GD) at a police station was mandatory to obtain a new card, causing delays and inconvenience. Now, the process has been simplified, and citizens can reissue their NID without visiting the police. No More GD Required to Replace Lost NID: DG

The Election Commission (EC) has taken a groundbreaking decision to simplify the process of reissuing a National Identity Card (NID) after it is lost. In a meeting yesterday, it was decided that from now on, citizens will no longer need to file a General Diary (GD) at the police station to obtain a replacement NID. The move is expected to significantly reduce the long-standing inconvenience faced by citizens. The information was confirmed to Bangla Tribune by ASM Humayun Kabir Banik, Director General of the National Identity Registration Subdivision.
