HSC examinees staged a protest near Prime Minister Tareq Rahman’s motorcade at Dhaka University on Tuesday, July 14, 2026. The students demonstrated against holding exams amid severe weather and waterlogging, demanding the resignation of Education Minister A N M Ehsanul Haque Milon. Police stopped the protesters at the university’s Mall Chattar as they attempted to march toward the Education Ministry, leading to a tense situation and heavy deployment of law enforcement.

The protest began around 12:45 p.m. when students started from Science Lab toward the ministry. At the same time, the Prime Minister was attending a state event titled “Youth, Startups, and the Promise of Bangladesh” at the Nawab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Building nearby. Members of the Chhatra Dal, including its general secretary Nasir Uddin Nasir, also appeared at the scene to speak with the students.

Earlier in the day, similar demonstrations took place in several parts of Dhaka, including Uttara and Science Lab intersections, causing severe traffic congestion. Students from 12 to 15 colleges participated, warning of tougher programs if their demands were not met within 24 hours.
