Education Minister A N M Ehsanul Haque Milon told Parliament on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, that the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) examinations were continued after consulting all relevant authorities and monitoring weather conditions until 5 p.m. He said the decision was based on forecasts from the Meteorological Department indicating improved weather. The minister responded to an independent MP’s question about why the exams were not postponed despite severe waterlogging in major cities.

Milon explained that the exams are held simultaneously across 64 districts in about 2,700 centers. When flooding affected parts of Chattogram, tests were postponed in several districts. He added that only Comilla Government Women’s College faced disruption due to waterlogging, where local authorities relocated the exam center and provided special arrangements for affected students. He emphasized that local administrators have the authority to delay or suspend exams if necessary.

Addressing another controversy, the minister confirmed errors in questions 6 and 7 of the physics paper, prepared under the previous government’s moderation process. He announced that all students would receive full marks for those questions.
