Police have arrested Khorshed Alam Chowdhury, president of the Lohagara Upazila Awami League and former Upazila chairman, in connection with attacks on an anti-discrimination student movement. He was taken into custody from his home on Monday at 3 PM. Lohagara Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Arifur Rahman stated that Chowdhury faces three cases related to the violent crackdown on peaceful protests. After going into hiding since August 5, he was arrested based on a tip-off.
