Fresh clashes broke out Sunday between students of Chittagong University (CU) and local residents, leaving several people, including the university proctor, injured.

Students had been boycotting classes and exams since morning, pressing a four-point demand including campus security. Tensions escalated when a student was allegedly detained by locals. Students gathered at the university’s second gate, where locals also assembled, leading to violent clashes.

Both sides hurled bricks and stones, and sporadic gunfire was reported. Police and security forces intervened to restore order.

The incident follows Saturday night’s violent confrontation between students and locals, which left over 50 people, including teachers and students, injured.
