Independent candidate for Dhaka-8 constituency and spokesperson of Inquilab Moncho, Sharif Osman Hadi, has been placed on life support after being shot in the capital’s Bijoynagar area on Friday afternoon. According to Dhaka Medical College Hospital authorities, Hadi’s condition remains critical following emergency treatment.

Police reported that around 2:25 p.m., unidentified assailants on a motorcycle opened fire on Hadi near the Box Culvert area before fleeing the scene. Law enforcement agencies have launched an investigation into the incident.

Interim government Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus expressed deep concern over the attack and instructed law enforcement agencies to conduct a swift and comprehensive investigation to identify and bring the perpetrators to justice. The incident has raised renewed questions about political security and election-related violence in Dhaka ahead of upcoming polls.
