Bangladesh, led by Najmul Hossain Shanto, secured their first Test victory on Australian soil by beating Australia by nine wickets at Marrara Stadium in Darwin. The result, reported on August 16, 2026, came 23 years after Bangladesh returned to play Test cricket in Australia. Bangladesh now lead the two-Test series 1-0.

Australia were bowled out for 284 in their second innings, leaving Bangladesh a target of 57. Tanzid Hasan Tamim was dismissed for a duck, but Mominul Haque and Shadman Islam completed the chase.
