Prime Minister Tarique Rahman declared that his government will make no compromise with corruption, emphasizing the goal of bringing everyone under the rule of law regardless of political affiliation. He made the remarks on Sunday morning at the Osmani Memorial Auditorium in Dhaka while inaugurating a four-day conference of deputy commissioners. Rahman said honesty, merit, and efficiency will guide appointments and transfers in the public administration, urging officials to remain prepared to serve anywhere in the country.
He noted that the government began its term with a debt burden of 30 trillion taka and faces rising poverty and unemployment. Despite institutional damage, the administration is seeking solutions without increasing public hardship. Rahman added that the government is working toward a just state and will gradually implement all commitments made in the election manifesto and the July Charter signed with the public.
He also called on district commissioners to ensure cautious electricity use in markets and shopping malls after 7 p.m. and acknowledged that the ongoing war situation poses a challenge for the new government.
