Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami candidate Mosle Uddin Farid has been declared the unofficial winner in the Jessore-2 (Jhikargacha-Chowgacha) constituency during the 13th National Parliamentary Election. The results, announced on Thursday, show that Farid secured victory with a margin of 23,568 votes over his nearest rival.
The constituency comprises 185 polling centers. In Chowgacha upazila’s 81 centers, Farid’s symbol, the balance scale, received 76,353 votes, while the BNP’s paddy sheaf symbol gained 67,476 votes, giving Farid an 8,877-vote lead there. In Jhikargacha upazila’s 94 centers, Farid obtained 92,145 votes, 14,690 more than his opponent. BNP candidate Mosha Sabira Sultana received 77,455 votes in Jhikargacha.
The unofficial results indicate Jamaat-e-Islami’s growing presence in the region, with Farid’s victory contributing to the party’s performance in multiple constituencies during the 13th parliamentary elections.
