International observers have lauded Bangladesh’s democratic process during the country’s 13th national parliamentary election, held on February 13, 2026. David Dreier, head of the U.S.-based International Republican Institute (IRI) observation team and a former U.S. congressman, described the election as free, fair, and festive after visiting the Manarat International School and College polling center in Dhaka. He noted the orderly environment and spontaneous participation of voters.

Nighat Siddiqui, Director General of Pakistan’s Election Commission, also characterized the election atmosphere as positive and sincere. After visiting several polling centers, she observed that voters were casting ballots enthusiastically, with strong participation from women, youth, and elderly citizens. She praised the Election Commission of Bangladesh for its efficient management of the process.

According to the Election Commission, 394 international observers and 197 foreign journalists covered the election, while over one million security personnel were deployed to ensure smooth voting from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
