District Detective Branch police arrested three people, including the alleged leader of a criminal gang, during a raid on a forested hideout beside the Karatoya River in Bogura Sadar. The hideout was located near the border of the Thengamara and Baghopara areas. Three DB teams, led by Officer-in-Charge Md Iqbal Bahar, conducted the operation at about 10 p.m. on Saturday in an isolated area behind a paper mill and a TMSS factory.

Participating DB sub-inspectors Shamim Ahmed and Fazlul Haque said the raid followed confidential information. Police said the group had been operating alleged criminal activities for a long time from the temporary shelter, which was made of tents and polythene. Officers recovered a foreign revolver, locally made weapons, drugs, cash and a high-powered electric shocker said to have been used for torture.

Police identified those arrested as alleged gang leader Rocky, also known as Pichchi Rocky, his associate Rakib, and another person. Police said five to seven other members escaped by jumping into the Karatoya River and swimming away after becoming aware of the operation. Rocky is the son of late Ratan Member of Mahishbathan village in Shekherkola Union, police said, adding that he faces multiple cases, including murder and fighting allegations.
