Police in Tangail’s Kalihati upazila arrested BNP’s former joint general secretary Mozammel Haque Hero, 55, on Saturday afternoon in connection with several cheque fraud cases. The arrest took place around 5 p.m. at the Sholakora Bazar area, according to Kalihati police. Hero, a resident of Rajabari area under Elenga municipality and son of the late Dr. Abdul Majid, was taken to Kalihati Police Station following his arrest. Police sources confirmed that multiple court-issued warrants were pending against him in cheque fraud cases filed with Kalihati Police Station. Officer-in-Charge J. M. Toufiq Azam stated that the arrest was carried out in accordance with legal procedures based on the warrants. After completing necessary legal formalities, Hero will be presented before the court on Sunday morning. The arrest marks a continuation of law enforcement actions in Tangail against individuals facing financial fraud allegations, as authorities emphasize adherence to judicial processes in such cases.
