A local leader of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami was seriously injured after being attacked by unidentified assailants in Magdhara Union of Sandwip on Sunday night. The incident occurred around 9 p.m. near the eastern side of Pelishar Bazar in Ward No. 5. The victim, Sajib Ahmed, who serves as the ward secretary of Jamaat, was returning home from work when a group of attackers assaulted him with sharp weapons, leaving him critically wounded. Locals rescued him and took him to Sandwip Upazila Health Complex, where doctors reported multiple deep head injuries and a critical condition due to heavy blood loss.

Sajib claimed he had been receiving threats for his organizational and promotional activities for Jamaat and identified two attackers named Akbar and Alvi, reportedly linked to Jubo Dal and Chhatra Dal. Alvi denied involvement, saying he was elsewhere during the attack. Magdhara Union Jubo Dal convener Kamrul Islam condemned the violence and demanded a fair investigation. Chattogram North Jamaat Ameer Alauddin Sikdar strongly denounced the attack and called for the arrest of the perpetrators. Sandwip police confirmed receiving reports of the incident and said legal action would follow upon receiving a formal complaint.
