Allegations of irregularities and nepotism have emerged after the final recruitment list for the Family Card programme census was published in Nageshwari, Kurigram. The list, posted on the upazila parishad notice board on Sunday, named 168 data collectors and 77 people on a waiting list, along with 17 supervisors and three waiting candidates. Hundreds of applicants, including candidates who said they passed viva examinations, questioned the selections.

Complainants alleged that people linked to the Awami League, banned Chhatra League and Jatiya Party were included in lists across five unions and the municipality. They also alleged that multiple members of the same family, married couples and candidates from outside relevant unions were selected, while some names appeared more than once. Sources said about 4,000 applications were submitted in two stages and around 3,500 candidates sat for examinations.

Viva board member Lutfar Rahman said candidates were marked pass or fail using codes rather than numerical scores. Upazila BNP convener Golam Rasul Raja said the party would submit a complaint to the social services office and seek withdrawal of disputed names. Grassroots BNP candidates demanded an impartial investigation, transparency in recruitment and action if irregularities are proven.
