Police in Mirsarai, Chattogram, recovered 130 kilograms of cannabis and 100 bottles of Phensedyl from an abandoned Toyota Noah microbus after suspected drug traffickers fled during a police pursuit. The vehicle, which police said had been used to transport the drugs, was also seized. Chattogram District Police Superintendent Masud Alam disclosed the information at a media briefing on Saturday night.

Alam said police began pursuing the Toyota Noah after observing its suspicious movements. At one stage, unidentified suspected traffickers allegedly left the microbus beside the road and escaped. Police later searched the abandoned vehicle and recovered the cannabis and Phensedyl.

The police superintendent said police are conducting intelligence surveillance, collecting information, operating checkpoints and carrying out special operations to implement a zero-tolerance policy against drugs. He said intelligence activities and operations have been strengthened to identify groups involved in the supply, transport and sale of narcotics and bring them under the law. Several senior police officials attended the briefing.
