Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has congratulated Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Chairman Tarique Rahman on what he described as an “unprecedented victory” in Bangladesh’s general election. In a post on social media platform X on Friday morning, Sharif also congratulated the people of Bangladesh for successfully organizing the election and expressed eagerness to work with the country’s new leadership.

Sharif wrote that he sincerely congratulated Tarique Rahman for leading the BNP to a sweeping win and praised Bangladesh’s citizens for their role in the electoral process. He added that Pakistan looks forward to strengthening its historic and multifaceted bilateral ties with Bangladesh and to advancing shared goals of peace, stability, and development across South Asia and beyond.
