A coach of the Silk City Express derailed at Shahid M Mansur Ali station in Sadandapur, Sirajganj Sadar, at about 11:15am on Tuesday. The Rajshahi-to-Dhaka train was entering the station when the derailment occurred, cutting rail communication between Dhaka and the northern region. Railway officials said there were no casualties.

The train was stopped by pulling its emergency chain, which officials said helped avert a major accident. Fire Service personnel and railway staff began recovery work, while a relief train departed from Ishwardi for the site. Several passenger trains were stranded at different stations, causing hardship for hundreds of passengers.

Jamuna Bridge West railway station master Moniruzzaman confirmed the incident. Sirajganj Bazar Railway Police station officer-in-charge Khairul Islam said a recovery team was working to remove the derailed coach and restore the line. Passenger Arifa Khatun said the train jolted and tilted to one side, prompting frightened passengers to get off. Train services are expected to resume after the recovery operation is completed.
