A draft ordinance proposes renaming the body to either "University Commission" or "Higher Education Commission." The new commission will have greater independence and expanded responsibilities, including vice-chancellor appointments, quality assurance, research monitoring, and introducing a Graduate Record Test (GRT) for university graduates. It will aim to align higher education with global standards and encourage student entrepreneurship.
