A local leader of the Krishak Dal, Badal Morol, aged 38, was killed in an attack by unidentified assailants in Bagerhat’s Sadar upazila on Tuesday night. According to local sources, the incident occurred around 11 p.m. at Niyoti Mor in Fakirhat upazila when helmeted attackers assaulted Badal Morol and ward BNP president Abdullah Morol with sharp weapons. Badal died on the spot, and Abdullah was seriously injured. Following the news, tension escalated in the area, and angry supporters staged a protest march in Baruipara.

Eyewitnesses reported that during the protest, some individuals moved toward the local Jamaat-e-Islami office and vandalized it, damaging furniture and signboards. No Jamaat members were present at the time. Police have deployed additional forces to maintain order and are investigating both the killing and the vandalism.

BNP leaders denied involvement in the attack on the Jamaat office, claiming that spontaneous protesters might have acted independently. Jamaat leaders, however, alleged that their office was deliberately targeted despite having no connection to the killing.
