The Shyamgram-Salimগঞ্জ regional road in Nabiganj upazila of Brahmanbaria has reopened after repairs were completed within three months. Local MP Abdul Mannan formally inaugurated a box culvert on the road on Monday afternoon. Traffic returned to normal immediately after the opening, ending travel hardship for more than 100,000 people in Shyamgram, Barikandi and Salimগঞ্জ unions, as well as residents of Banchharampur upazila.

The road collapsed near Bogahani village in Shyamgram union on May 27, the day before Eid, under pressure from prolonged heavy rainwater. The damage cut off road links between the affected area and district and upazila headquarters. After Amardesh published a report on the disruption, Advocate Abdul Mannan inspected the damaged site on May 29 and instructed that box-culvert construction begin on an emergency basis.

The inauguration was attended by BNP central executive committee member Taqdir Hossain Mohammad Jasim, Upazila Executive Engineer Ferdous Ali, local representatives, political leaders and residents. Ferdous Ali said cooperation from the MP and district administration enabled the construction to be completed quickly and road communication to resume.
