Prime Minister Tarique Rahman met President Md. Shahabuddin at Bangabhaban on Thursday evening. The meeting took place at 6:10 p.m., marking the first official encounter between the two leaders since Rahman assumed office. The Prime Minister was accompanied by his daughter, Barrister Zaima Rahman, while the President was joined by his spouse, Professor Rebecca Sultana. According to the Prime Minister’s additional press secretary, the meeting included an exchange of greetings between the two leaders.

Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Rahman inaugurated and watched the Independence Day friendly football match at the National Stadium before arriving at Bangabhaban. He took the oath of office as Prime Minister on February 17 at the South Plaza of the National Parliament Building, with President Shahabuddin administering the oath.

This meeting is noted as the first between the President and Prime Minister Rahman at Bangabhaban since his assumption of office, underscoring the continuation of formal state interactions between the executive and the head of state.
