Ticket prices for the ongoing Football World Cup have fallen sharply ahead of the round of 16 matches, following the end of the group stage excitement. According to the report, FIFA has been unable to maintain high ticket prices due to lower-than-expected spectator interest. The steepest decline has been recorded for the highly anticipated United States vs Belgium match in Seattle, where prices dropped by more than 30 percent within days.

Data from TicketData.com show that the lowest ticket price for the match fell from about 4,000 dollars on June 1 to 1,549 dollars, later rebounding to 2,836 dollars after the U.S. secured qualification, before again dropping to 1,423 dollars and slightly recovering to 1,635 dollars. Analysts described the fall as unexpected, given Belgium’s base camp proximity to the venue and the expectation of strong attendance.

Despite the slump, the U.S.–Belgium match remains the second most expensive of the round, behind Mexico vs England. Experts attribute the overall market decline to the early exit of major teams and travel difficulties limiting international fan attendance.
