Israeli military forces mistakenly destroyed their own equipment in southern Lebanon after firing an interceptor at it, according to a report published on August 12, 2026. The forces said they later identified the targeted equipment as belonging to the Israeli military.

The military said nobody was injured in the incident and no warning sirens were sounded. It said the circumstances behind how the error occurred were under review.

The report said Israeli forces continue to maintain an occupation in southern Lebanon despite a US-mediated “ceasefire” being in effect. It also said Israeli forces have continued carrying out attacks in the area.
