Jamaat-e-Islami has announced it will not hold protests on the mornings of September 18 and 19 to avoid disrupting the 47th BCS written examinations. Demonstrations will instead be staged in the afternoon.

Earlier, the party had called for a three-day protest program on September 18, 19, and 26. A statement said the decision was made "in the interest of ensuring a peaceful environment for examinees." The party also extended prayers for the candidates’ success in contributing to "a new Bangladesh."
