Two passengers in a battery-powered autorickshaw were killed after a truck hit the vehicle in Hatibandha, Lalmonirhat. The crash occurred on the Dhaka-Burimari highway near Sonali Bank Suchana Chattar on Saturday afternoon. The dead were identified as 50-year-old Zahurul from West Sardubi and 50-year-old Abdul Jalil from Singimari.

Three other people, including a woman, were seriously injured in the incident. Local residents immediately rescued them and took them to Hatibandha উপজেলা Health Complex, where they are receiving treatment. Hatibandha police station officer-in-charge Ashrafuzzaman Sarker confirmed that two people had died and that three others were seriously hurt.

Witnesses said the truck, bearing registration Dhaka Metro-T 12-5482 and travelling from Lalmonirhat, forcefully struck the autorickshaw coming from the opposite direction. The truck then dragged the autorickshaw into a motorcycle showroom. The autorickshaw was crushed in the collision, while several motorcycles inside the showroom were also damaged.
