The government has appointed State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Anindya Islam Amit to supervise rescue, relief distribution, and rehabilitation operations in flood-affected areas of Chattogram and the Chittagong Hill Tracts. The Cabinet Division issued a gazette notification on Friday under the President’s order, signed by Cabinet Secretary Nasimul Gani. The directive takes immediate effect.

According to the notification, the minister will coordinate and monitor the assessment of flood damage, available relief stock, and ongoing rescue efforts. He will also ensure coordination among relevant ministries, departments, agencies, district and local administrations, and security forces. Additionally, he will provide necessary guidance for damage assessment and rehabilitation planning in the affected regions.

The order further states that the minister will oversee the adequacy of relief supplies, take prompt action to ensure their availability, and keep the government informed about the flood situation and measures taken. Relevant government bodies, including the Disaster Management and Relief Ministry, divisional and district administrations, law enforcement agencies, and local government institutions, will provide administrative and technical support to the appointed minister.
