Tensions escalated in Gopalganj during the National Citizens Party's (NCP) month-long ‘July March’ campaign. In Gandhiashur area, banned activists from the Awami League and Chhatra League attacked the convoy of the local UNO, vandalizing vehicles. In a separate incident in ULPur, Chhatra League activists reportedly set fire to a police vehicle. Superintendent of Police Mizanur Rahman confirmed the incidents, stating they were attempts to disrupt the NCP's march. Several people were injured during the violence. The NCP’s scheduled rally took place in the town's municipal park in the presence of central leaders.
