BNP leader Mosharraf Hossain M alleged that Jamaat activists in Shibganj, Chapainawabganj, vandalized their own houses and furniture after the national election. He made the claim on Saturday afternoon at a press conference organized by the BNP’s Ward No. 7 unit of Durlovpur Union at the Shibganj Press Club.
In a written statement, Mosharraf Hossain said that following the February 12 national election at Jagannathpur Government Primary School center, a provocative procession led by Jamaat activist Babor Ali was carried out in the Jagannathpur area. Stones were allegedly thrown at BNP activists from the procession. The next morning, February 13, Jamaat activists again chanted provocative slogans at Jagannathpur Bazar, and when attempts were made to calm the situation, Babor Ali’s group allegedly launched a sudden attack, injuring 8–10 BNP activists who later received hospital treatment.
Mosharraf Hossain further claimed that Jamaat members damaged their own property to falsely blame BNP. He also stated that Babor Ali and his family members were not involved in BNP politics.
