A special operation conducted by the Thakurgaon Battalion (50 BGB) led to the seizure of a 7-kilogram touchstone and the arrest of two individuals in Panchagarh’s Atwari upazila. The joint patrol team from the battalion headquarters and the Barshalupara BOP carried out the operation around 2 a.m. on Tuesday, July 14, near the Radha Krishna Bazar area, about 400 yards inside Bangladesh from border pillar 396/5-R. The detainees were identified as Dulal Hossain, 36, and Kalim Uddin, 40. The recovered touchstone is valued at approximately Tk 700,000.

During the operation, BGB also seized two button mobile phones, two SIM cards, a Hero Honda motorcycle, and a TVS motorcycle. The total seizure value, including the touchstone and other items, was estimated at Tk 887,400. The operation was led by Lieutenant Colonel Kh. Akhlakur Rahman, G, Artillery, commander of the Thakurgaon Battalion.

According to BGB, the operation was part of its zero-tolerance policy against smuggling, drug trafficking, human trafficking, and illegal border crossings. The commander urged local residents to remain vigilant and cooperate in maintaining border security and social order.
