BNP leader Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said that Shaheed Ziaur Rahman taught the nation to uphold independence and sovereignty with a distinct sense of identity. Ziaur Rahman, Khaleda Zia, and Tarique Rahman have all led and organized the BNP effectively. He asserted that BNP is a party of the people and that no conspiracy against it will be tolerated. Rizvi criticized some government advisers for repeatedly talking about reforms, pointing out that reforms are usually made and adjusted in parliament. He questioned the need for so much talk about reform if it is already part of the legislative process. He noted that the current government has been in power for eight months, and if elections are held in December, about eight months remain. So, how much more time is needed for reforms? He emphasized that whatever reforms are made now must be approved by the next parliament. Rizvi also criticized what he described as anti-Bangladesh ties between India and the Awami League.
