A Krishak Dal leader in Faridpur’s Bhanga upazila has alleged that a police officer assaulted him inside the local police station on Monday night, rupturing his eardrum. The injured leader, Fardin Hasan Ujjal, is currently receiving treatment at Bhanga Upazila Health Complex. The incident reportedly occurred when Ujjal went to the station to deliver medicine and food to an acquaintance who had been detained earlier that evening.
According to Krishak Dal’s general secretary Kamrul Islam, Ujjal identified himself to Sub-Inspector Kabir Hossain but was nevertheless beaten and forced out of the station. The assault sparked anger among Krishak Dal members, who later held a protest meeting at Bhanga Eidgah Madrasa field on Tuesday, demanding an investigation and the withdrawal of the officer involved. Police personnel reportedly apologized to the victim in an attempt to defuse the situation.
Sub-Inspector Kabir Hossain described the incident as an unintended misunderstanding that was resolved immediately, though Krishak Dal leaders continued to call for accountability.
