The National Citizen Party (NCP), Jatiya Chhatra Shakti and Chattogram Metropolitan BNP held separate programmes in Chattogram ahead of July Mass Uprising Day. On Tuesday morning, NCP and Jatiya Chhatra Shakti activists brought out a rickshaw rally with more than 100 rickshaws from the city’s Panchlaish area. The rally travelled through different roads in the city.
The organisers said the rickshaw rally was arranged to recognise rickshaw pullers’ spontaneous participation and contribution to the August 4 movement. At 3pm, Jatiya Chhatra Shakti held a mass march, where activists chanted slogans demanding justice for the killing of Shaheed Sharif Osman Hadi and displayed his photograph. Chattogram metropolitan convenor Mir Shoaib and member secretary Arif Moinuddin led the programme.
Also at 3pm, Chattogram Metropolitan BNP brought out a mass march from the Jamiatul Falah National Mosque premises. Participants included Chattogram-10 MP Sayeed Al Noman, Chattogram-9 MP Abu Sufian, Chattogram Parishad administrator Mahbuber Rahman Shamim and metropolitan BNP member secretary Nazimur Rahman. The march called for observing July Mass Uprising Day on August 5 in a festive atmosphere.
