An anti-drug rally and awareness gathering was held in Banshkhali, Chattogram, on August 23, 2026, to raise public awareness against drug trafficking, sales and consumption. The programme was organised under the slogan, “Let us all pledge to build a drug-free society.” Police personnel, local administration officials, public representatives, teachers, students, members of civil society and residents took part.

Led by Banshkhali police station Officer-in-Charge Mohammad Rabiul Haque, the rally began from the police station premises. It travelled through major roads and important areas of the upazila before ending at the Upazila Parishad premises. A public awareness meeting was later held in the parishad compound.

Speakers said drugs destroy not only an individual’s life but also affect families, society and the state. They stressed joint action by law-enforcement agencies, families and communities to protect young people. The officer-in-charge said police had strengthened anti-drug operations and surveillance to keep Banshkhali drug-free. Participants later recited an anti-drug pledge and expressed commitment to building a healthy, beautiful and drug-free Banshkhali for future generations.
