A heated incident occurred at a school debate competition in Baufal when Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Aminul Islam verbally lashed out at journalist Imran, president of the local Anti-Corruption Committee, for not inviting him in writing. The UNO arrived late to the event and publicly chastised organizers, even threatening imprisonment. In a controversial statement, he declared, “We are servants of the Republic who can jail our masters.” The altercation escalated when the UNO allegedly used his staff to intimidate another journalist, H. Babul, present at the event.
