A Dhaka court has set July 28 for delivering the verdict in a case filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) against former Bangladesh Bank deputy governor Sitangshu Kumar (S K) Sur Chowdhury for failing to submit his wealth statement. The date was fixed after both prosecution and defense completed their arguments before Dhaka’s Second Special Judge Ayesha Nasrin. Court bench assistant Md Dewan Ashiq confirmed the information.

According to the ACC, Sur was served a notice to submit details of his and his dependents’ movable and immovable assets, liabilities, and sources of income within 21 working days, but he did not comply. The case was filed on December 23, 2024, under Section 26(2) of the Anti-Corruption Commission Act, 2004, by ACC Deputy Director Nazmul Hossain. A charge sheet was submitted on August 4, 2025, and the court framed charges on November 6, 2025. All seven witnesses testified during the trial.

Sur was arrested by the ACC on January 14, 2025, in Dhaka’s Segunbagicha area and has remained in custody since then.
