Three judges of International Crimes Tribunal-1, along with a prosecution team, visited the Rapid Action Battalion’s Taskforce for Interrogation cell in Uttara, Dhaka, on Saturday. The secret detention site is known as Aynaghar. After the visit, Chief Prosecutor Aminul Islam said the judges were brought to directly view the cells where brutal torture occurred.

Speaking to journalists around noon, Islam said the visit would form part of proceedings in the memorandum court trial. He said no one who destroyed evidence to conceal Aynaghar would be spared. Citing findings from the investigation, he also said current Home Minister Salah Uddin Ahmed had been detained at the Uttara Aynaghar before being trafficked to India.

The inspection began after 11am at RAB-1 headquarters and included Tribunal-1 chairman Justice Md Golam Mortuza Mozumder, member Justice Md Shafiul Alam Mahmud and judge Md Mohitul Haque Enam Chowdhury. Prosecutors Mizanul Islam, Gazi MH Tamim, Faruk Ahmad, Shaikh Mahdi, Shahidul Islam Sardar and Tasmirul Islam attended, along with other prosecution team members and defence lawyers.
