A fatal road accident occurred in Dhaka’s Nadda area early Wednesday morning when two buses collided head-on. The crash, which took place around 6 a.m. on May 27, 2026, left one woman named Laiju dead and injured between 10 and 12 others. Witnesses said a bus operated by Islam Paribahan, running on the Dhaka-Barishal route, struck another bus from Akash Paribahan from behind with great force, causing the Islam Paribahan bus to overturn on the road divider.
Following the collision, the rear right side of the Akash Paribahan bus was severely damaged, and one passenger died at the scene. Fire Service rescue teams arrived shortly after 6:15 a.m. and recovered the body. Local residents and firefighters jointly rescued at least 12 injured passengers and sent them to Kurmitola General Hospital and Baridhara General Hospital for treatment.
Authorities have not yet provided further details about the cause of the accident or the condition of the injured passengers.
