A Dhaka court has scheduled April 16 for the charge framing hearing against British MP Tulip Rizwana Siddiq and former RAJUK assistant legal adviser Sardar Mosharraf Hossain in a case filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) over allegedly acquiring a flat illegally in Gulshan-2. The case has been transferred to Dhaka’s Fifth Special Judge Court by order of Senior Special Judge Md Sabbir Foyez. Court officials confirmed that the gazette notification has been published and the case is ready for trial.

Earlier, on February 18, the court accepted the charge sheet and issued arrest warrants against Siddiq and Hossain. The ACC later sought Interpol’s red notice to arrest Siddiq, which was approved by the court. The case stems from allegations that Siddiq and others misused power to occupy and register a flat from Eastern Housing Limited without payment. The ACC filed the case on April 15 last year under multiple sections of the Penal Code and the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1947.

Siddiq had previously been sentenced to six years in prison in three separate fraud cases related to plot allocation.
