A charge sheet has been submitted against Nizam Uddin Hazari and seven others over allegations that businessman Anwar Hossain was deprived of Tk 9 crore 2 lakh 80 thousand in Feni. Investigating officer Parsit Chakma filed the charge sheet in court, according to the report published on August 10, 2026.

Anwar filed the case at Feni Model Police Station on November 14, 2024, alleging embezzlement and assault and torture after he refused to pay Tk 5 crore in extortion money. The other accused are former Jatiya Party MP Ahsan Adelur Rahman, Zinat Rezwana, Abdul Awal, Rakib Mia, Alim Talukdar, Kohinur Akhtar and Farhana Akhtar.

The investigation said Anwar had a business relationship with Zinat Rezwana and was owed money by her. When he sought repayment, she allegedly filed two general diaries alleging theft of company pads and cheques and issued threats. The charge sheet further alleges that Anwar was taken to Hazari's house, where Tk 5 crore was demanded and he was beaten after refusing. It says his family paid Tk 20 lakh before he was released on a condition concerning the remaining amount.
