The murder case of Jagannath University student and branch Chhatra Dal convening committee member Jubayed Hossain has been transferred to the Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge Court after becoming ready for trial. Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Nazmin Akter issued the transfer order on Wednesday, August 12. A hearing on framing charges has been scheduled for September 13, according to prosecution division SI Kamal Hossain.

Jubayed was killed on October 19 last year while going to tutor a female student in Armanitola, Old Dhaka. He was stabbed on the ground floor of the student’s residence at about 4:30 pm and was later found lying face down, bloodied, on stairs on the third floor. His elder brother, Enayet Hossain Soikat, filed the murder case with Bangshal police station on October 21.

After about nine months of investigation, investigating officer Md Ashraf Hossain submitted a charge sheet to the court on June 30. It named Jubayed’s student Barjis Shabnam Barsha, her boyfriend Md Mahir Rahman, and Mahir’s friend Fardeen Ahmed Aylan as accused. The investigation found a love triangle narrative, the report said. All three accused are in jail.
