International Crimes Tribunal Chief Prosecutor Aminul Islam said a public hearing into events outside Jatrabari police station during the 2024 mass uprising produced a preliminary list of 85 people killed. The hearing was held from 2 p.m. until the afternoon on Sunday, according to a report published on August 2, 2026.
Relatives of people killed and injured outside the police station during the 2024 movement attended the hearing. Islam said the initial list of about 85 people could receive further additions. He assured families of the dead and injured that justice would be ensured.
The chief prosecutor said the series of incidents would be brought under an investigation, followed by submission of an investigation report and completion of the judicial process. He also said witness testimony has already concluded in the murder case of Taium Bhuiya, who was killed outside Jatrabari police station.
