In May 2025, Bangladesh witnessed 652 transport accidents—including road, rail, and waterways—that claimed 658 lives and injured 1,210 people, according to Jatri Kalyan Samity. Road accidents alone caused 614 deaths and 1,196 injuries from 597 incidents. Motorcycles accounted for the highest number of fatalities. Dhaka division had the most road accidents, while Barisal had the fewest. Victims included drivers, pedestrians, students, women, and children. The majority of accidents occurred on highways, with run-overs, collisions, and loss of control being the leading causes.
