Sixteen people, including the Sreepur Forest Range Officer, were injured when forest department officials came under attack during an eviction drive in Gazipur’s Sreepur on Tuesday morning. The incident occurred around 11 a.m. in the Dombarichala area under the Satkhamaoir forest beat. Attackers also vandalized a government vehicle belonging to the forest department.

According to forest department sources, two individuals named Dulal and Arman had illegally occupied forest land and were constructing buildings there. When the department began its eviction operation, the two and their associates resisted and attacked the officials with local weapons. Police from Sreepur station later arrived, brought the situation under control, and took the injured to Sreepur Upazila Health Complex for treatment.

Sreepur police confirmed that a case has been filed over the attack, and the accused have fled the area. Police operations to arrest them are ongoing.
