Officials of Wakfi Knit Fabrics Private Limited in Madhabdi, Narsingdi, have accused former student leader Kamrul Haque Roman of leading an attack, vandalism, and looting at their under-construction garment factory on April 14. The company filed a written complaint with Madhabdi Police Station, alleging that a group demanded Tk 3 million in extortion and later assaulted staff, injuring several, and took Tk 750,000 from the site office. The incident prompted the company to hold a press conference at Narsingdi Press Club on Monday, calling for the suspect’s immediate arrest.
In a written statement, senior manager Zakir Hossain said the extortion threats had continued for several days before the attack. The accused, Kamrul Haque Roman, a former joint convener of the Madhabdi Thana unit of the Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal, denied the allegations, claiming he only intervened in a dispute over stored fuel and that the extortion claim was false. He stated he remains active in BNP politics despite holding no current post.
Madhabdi Police Station Officer-in-Charge Kamal Hossain confirmed receiving the complaint and said legal action is under process pending investigation.
