Former Chief Prosecutor of the International Crimes Tribunal, Mohammad Tazul Islam, stated that martyrs remain in the nation’s consciousness and will continue to inspire life. He made the remark in a Facebook post on Friday night after visiting the Shaheed Mir Mugdho Mancha in Uttara.
Earlier, on Thursday, Tazul Islam had called for legal action against actress Meher Afroz Shaon over what he described as a controversial statement about the new Bangladesh achieved through the July Revolution. In his post, he accused her of exceeding all limits of audacity and linked her comments to two incidents: the burning of the July Memorial in Netrakona and the alleged abduction and torture of a July fighter by members of the Chhatra League. He described both incidents as serious criminal offenses.
The statements have drawn attention on social media, reflecting ongoing sensitivities surrounding historical narratives and accountability in Bangladesh.
