Authorities have been urged to prevent Dr. Kamda Prasad Saha, accused of issuing a false forensic report in the Sohagi Jahan Tonu murder case, from leaving Bangladesh. The report alleges that Saha, now serving as treasurer at Khulna Medical University, is seeking a no-objection certificate to travel to several SAARC countries, with suspicions that he intends to flee to the United States and seek political asylum. Tonu’s father and mother both accused him of falsifying the autopsy report and demanded his immediate arrest.

Saha was the head of the forensic department at Comilla Medical College when Tonu was murdered. Despite visible injury marks, his first postmortem report failed to identify a cause of death, and the second report implied consensual sexual activity, sparking public outrage. Local residents and students have called for his travel clearance to be suspended and for him to be placed under surveillance.

The renewed attention follows recent progress in the murder investigation, including the remand and imprisonment of a retired army officer and DNA testing orders for three suspects.
